Hi, call me Ami.  Amelia Flor, is my full name, being the namesake for both grandmothers, hence the little flower inserted there for flor(a).  As a child I loved listening to stories about their lives but unfortunately only a few photos of them exist.  So after starting my own family, I made sure a camera became an extension of my arm.  

 

Through photography, I want our children to see how fiercely they are loved, from birth onward,

forever and always!  I’m devoted to photographing the connection between mother and child that exists from the moment she knows she’s pregnant.  And when it comes to engaged and marrying couples, I want to capture the love, excitement and emotion with details, details, details!  Their photos help them relive their special day over and again.

 

I have no real formal training and never took a class.  Because of these I feel somewhat more accomplished than ever imagined, really.   I am not seeking out awards because my clients award me through their generous words, excitement and gratitude for their lovely images.

 

What you should know simply about me is this, I have a true passion for photography and greatly appreciate how it can tell your story.  Long ago before photography, I was a classical artist that created images with the strokes of pencils, pastels and paintbrushes.  Now I use a camera.  Although I do have a home studio for small children, I much prefer to shoot with natural and available light whenever possible.  So I don't mind getting up at the crack of dawn or staying out beyond dusk!  

 

My work is always rooted in the love of a memory and the desire to create something more intimate than documentation.  Playfully posed or journalistic, I enjoy capturing life and love's splendour with all its artful details.

 

Okay.  Enough serious stuff // a few facts to know:

 

 I'm a CHOCOHOLIC.

I cry at chick flicks and beautiful sunsets.

I eat, pray and laugh a lot.

I'm a do-it-yourselfer. 

I have way too many hobbies.

Above all, I love the Lord and I'm inspired by and madly in love with my husband Bernard and children Andrew, Carly and Gabriel.
